Sound

Sound is more than what we hear—it is what we feel.
When we listen closely—
to music, nature, or the quiet inside us—
we open to something deeper.
These simple moments of resonance have the power to transform.

Sound is all around us, all the time — much of it we barely notice.  We live inside a field of vibration, yet we rarely pause to listen.  At its core, sound is movement — and it holds the potential to stir movement within our lives.

Sound is how the invisible becomes felt.

The Sounds We Cannot Hear

Some sound falls outside our hearing range — like infrasound (too low to hear) or ultrasound (too high) — yet still affects our bodies and surroundings.  Some birds sing in frequencies that rise beyond what human ears can hear — tones that other birds can hear, but we cannot.  These ultrasonic notes are all around us, unheard but not unfelt.

A Poetic Thought

There’s something lovely in this: that not all of nature’s music is meant to be heard with the ears.  Some of it seems made for other birds, or other layers of perception — perhaps even for the earth itself.

In my own journey with sound, I return often to this:
Some of the most powerful resonances are the ones we don’t even realize we’re hearing.  They’re not always loud. But they’re real.  They are no less powerful for their gentleness.  In fact, it is often the quietest sounds that reach the deepest parts of us.

A Short Practice: Listening Beyond the Ears

Here is a gentle practice to reconnect with sound, presence, and the unseen layers of perception.

Settle Into Stillness
Find a quiet space.
Sit or lie down comfortably and allow your body to soften.
Let your breath become slow and natural.

Close Your Eyes
Turn your attention inward.
Feel your connection to whatever is supporting you right now — the chair, the floor, the earth.
Notice subtleties within yourself: hums, pulses, or quiet movement.
You are entering the space where sound is felt as much as heard.

Begin Listening
Open your awareness to the sounds around you — not trying to name or judge them, just receiving:
– A distant bird
– The hum of electricity
– Even the spaces between sounds

Listen for What You Can’t Hear
Imagine that some sounds — like the upper tones of birdsong — are present but beyond your hearing range.
Welcome them anyway.
Trust that what you can’t hear may still be reaching you, stirring you.

Anchor With Intention
Place your hand on your heart or throat and gently say (aloud or within):
“I am listening — with more than my ears.
I am open to what is subtle, unseen, and real.”

Patiently Listen
Thoughts will wander in.
Simply return to yourself with an energetic tidal wave of love — this is really important.
Stay with the experience until you feel ready to return.

Close with a Breath
Inhale deeply.
Exhale with a soft sigh.
When you’re ready, open your eyes.

Let this quality of listening follow you into the next part of your day.
This practice helps us listen with more than just our ears, and honors sound as a living presence — not just a concept.

Safe and Sound

The phrase safe and sound has long meant arriving unharmed, but I’ve come to hear something deeper in it.  Safe speaks to shelter — the feeling of being held and protected.  But sound — not just as “uninjured,” but as resonance — hints at something more: the return of inner harmony.

To be safe and sound might mean more than just surviving; it could mean arriving back in tune with ourselves… intact not only in body, but in spirit.

And that is really what this space is about — listening more deeply, softening into presence, and slowly arriving… safe and sound.  From this place of safety, we can open space for healing and expression.

Let us begin now — not by straining to hear, but by softening into the sound that is already here, waiting to be felt.

A Quiet Blessing for the Journey Beyond

Some sounds are too subtle to hear,
but I believe they’re still here —
frequencies from higher realms,
just outside our ordinary awareness.

Whether we call them angelic, energetic, or simply unseen,
they don’t push or perform.
They respond to presence.

May you sense what’s quietly reaching you —
and trust that what’s meant for you
will come with grace.
