About Me
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and about the spirit behind this blog.
What follows is a little of my story, and some of the moments that have shaped me.
I live in British Columbia, Canada, near Vancouver, and I’m truly grateful for the natural beauty that surrounds me here.
Listening Beneath the Surface
I’ve always been drawn to the deeper layers of experience — the feelings, meanings, and small moments that can easily be missed.
This space is where I share some of what I have noticed, practiced, and learned along the way.
I am especially interested in the ways sound, silence, breath, and simple presence can help us return to ourselves in everyday life.
A Little of My Story
I grew up on a working farm, surrounded by open fields, animals, and hard work. We were a family of seven shaped by Swiss roots and immigrant beginnings. Those early experiences affected me in ways I am still coming to understand.
Music has been a lifelong thread, though I did not have the opportunity for lessons when I was young. I studied voice, piano, music theory, and music history more formally as an adult.
After a significant health scare several years ago, I became increasingly drawn to the healing qualities of sound and went on to receive training in sound healing.
That health scare has especially taught me to listen more closely to my own life, my needs, and the parts of myself I had learned to put aside.
Sound, Movement, and Voice
In more recent years, dance and choir have become important parts of my life. My husband and I take ballroom dance lessons together, and it has become a way to enjoy movement, music, connection, embodiment, and learning together.
The Classic Rock Choir I belong to has become another important kind of practice. I am learning how to stay with my own note while others around me are singing theirs, and also how to blend my voice with the group. Music can bring me back into the body and into the present moment.
The Sunflower Symbol
I have always loved sunflowers, and over time the sunflower became an important symbol for me. Like a young sunflower turning toward the sun, it reminds me to keep turning toward what brings warmth, steadiness, and life.
That is why you see the sunflower as the logo throughout this site — a quiet reminder of warmth, growth, and returning to what matters.
What This Space Offers
This blog is a place where I share reflections and simple practices from my own experience, in the hope that they may be useful to others too.
I am not here as an expert with all the answers, but as someone still learning. Even the process of building this site has been part of the path. It has helped me slow down, offer myself more gentleness and patience, and clarify what truly matters.
May this space meet you wherever you are.

Here is a short video from our choir performance on the summer solstice of 2026. We are singing “Listen to the Music” by the Doobie Brothers. The words “listening for the happy sounds now we got to let them fly” felt especially meaningful. I am wearing the yellow T-shirt in the front row, alongside my fellow low-voice singers.
